Glen Hatcher
Director and Risk Management Consultant
Glen Hatcher has always wanted to help people. His straight forward approach will help you to provide security and protect your financial goals should the unexpected happen. It's all about Turning Vision Into Value.
His first career in the Navy in the HR arena has fine-tuned his ability to work with people and really understand what drives them. This skill is essential in putting together a well-planned and executed risk management strategy; one that will maximise the ability to provide Insurance that delivers at claim time, whilst still being price conscious.
He understands only too well the pressures on our budgets and the results when a plan isn’t right and therefore doesn’t provide the required outcome when needed. Glen is an expert in the field of business and personal insurance. In his second career as a Financial Adviser, Glen has a passion for this industry. He is passionate about making sure that claims are paid and that families and/or business security is protected in times of need.
He is a Director in other similar businesses, that are passionate about growing and training advisers through leadership and professional standards and as a trainer he always firstly educates his clients about risk management, thus empowering them to make the appropriate choices for themselves. He has access to the entire financial services industry including Lawyers, Accountants, Mortgage Advisers and wealth creation experts; so he can help his clients pick and choose from all the providers to get the right strategies and goals in place for individuals.
Another addition to Glen's ventures is a business called mySolutions which is an inwards facing insurance aggregation business helping advisers across New Zealand grow their own business, act independently, retain their clients and build their brands.
As a family man with three children, he spends his spare time having fun kayaking, fishing and outdoors and pretty much anything that involves hanging out with his family and laughing.
The Simple Things In Life Are Free
The other day my 5yr old son said “Dad, can you buy me a kite?”. Fair enough request on a picture perfect Auckland day with no wind and nothing to do. Then I had a thought…. Hey, Let’s actually make a kite! It will fill in more time and we can use the resources around us. That stupid bamboo bush might as well come in for something useful. The bonus was he seemed very happy with the idea of chopping something down and using his hands to make his kite. It wasn’t long before we had a kite made from the bamboo, a rubbish bag, string and cellotape.
As a family we hopped in the people mover and headed to Army Bay, tramped out to the edge of the Whangaparaoa Peninsular (the only place I thought there might be wind) and had a ball.
We all live hectic lives, either running businesses, managing staff, kids and alike or being managed by others and their agenda. Either way… we’re living the dream albeit in the fast lane. Taking time out, playing with the kids and having fun is priceless. It’s these days that will be treasured by our children, not the long hours we work to provide for our families. Both are important, and both need to be balanced.

That Profound Moment
Life has many lessons. Some we continue to ignore and others can be profound. Our youngest daughter at the age of 11 taught me a profound lesson. She would randomly grab her fishing rod, tackle box, bait and knife and yell out ‘see you later’ and be off.
Now…. We are truly blessed in New Zealand with our environment. I guess Covid has taught us to appreciate the little things. It also gave us the excuse to see more of our own backyard. We are fortunate to be surrounded by beauty.
When she came back, not catching anything, she’d have a smile on her face. I’m sure if she had caught something, she’d have freaked out. Chatting to a neighbour about this ritual, they said that our daughter had found her happy place. Somewhere to spend time by herself and maybe reflect on whatever was on her mind.
Finding your happy space, whether it’s having a coffee in a café, having a long hot shower, walking on the beach or in the bush or even fishing; it is hugely important to take time out and reflect (or even think of nothing). I’m sure that the fast pace we all live these days is not conducive to our bodies capabilities. We should all just unplug (even if only for a few minutes) throughout our day, appreciate our journey and not rush to the destination. Find that one space we so desire to rest in limbo; recharge our soul and mind and let our imagination run away.
